My Favorite Fried Chicken

 Pilot House Kitchens. 

Pilot House use to have several locations around the St. Louis area. Now, the chicken is only available at the Sunset 44 Restaurant.  I love friend chicken and really wish Pilot House was available here. 

I would rate Pilot House chicken a 9.5 out 10.

Strawberry Swiss Rolls

 I was ata the store and saw a display of Little Debbies Strawberry Swiss Rolls and decided to get a box and give them a try.  I was unimpressed.  The strawberry flavor left an aftertaste in my moth that I didn't expect.

Would I eat them again - maybe.  

Would I buy them again - No.

My Favorite Restaurant

I had someone ask about my favorite restaurant and I realized that I didn't really have an answer for them.  I needed to give it some thought. It took me a couple of days but I now know what my favorite restaurant is and why.

Every time I have eaten here it hasn't really felt like 'going out' or 'eating at a restaurant'.  I always left feeling like I had dinner at a friends house. The food was always good.  The servers were helpful and considerate and treated us more like friends than customers.

Appetizers; Cheese garlic bread, unlimited salad, toasted ravioli

Entrees; Cavatelli, Tortellini, Fettuccini al Carbonara

and Pepsi or ice tea.

Good food, good service, comfortable environment, what else could anyone want?

Popeye's Louisiana Chicken

 I don't know why I've always had such bad luck at restaurants, but it continues...

Here is one of my newest ones. 

On Tuesday I stopped at Popeyes #11375, on Pinewoods Dr in Raleigh.  I ordered a 4 Piece Combo (4 pieces of chicken, biscuit, one side, and a drink.)  I ordered it with mashed potatos and a Coke. She then said "We don't have any soda.  We have lemonade or water."  

I told her forget the drink and I pulled up to the window.  Upon arriving at the window she just opened it and said "10 16" and held out her hand.  I handed her my card and she ran it, then handed it back.  About 10 seconds later she handed me a bag and shut the window. 

I looked in the bag for the receipt and it wasn't there - so I sat there and waited for her to notice me.  When she noticed me she opened the window and said "What?" 

I stated that I didn't get a receipt and  she replied "We don't have them.  Our machine isn't working."

So; NO soda.  NO - receipts. 

Then when I got home and pulled everything from the bag there was only the mashed potatos and the chicken.  NO biscuit.  NO utensils to eat the potatoes with.  NO napkins.
Horrible service.  Missing items.  No soda (and no discount for the missing soda).

I'm adding this store to me "Restaurants to Avoid" list.

 

Hunt Brothers Pizza

Hunt Brothers Pizza is now open and located in the Tryon EZ Way (Shell station) located at; 3428 Tryon Rd, Raleigh, NC 27603.

They are currently offering what they call "Hunks", which are 1/4 of a 12" round pizza. When I was there they were offering cheese and pepperoni. They do offer whole 12" pizzas, both round original crust and 13" square thin crust, custom orders. They offer 10 toppings. 4 meats and 6 vegetables.

 

I tried the 2 "Hunks". The crust was decent, not overly bready. Minimal flop. The pepperonis were not overly spicy. The sauce has more of a spaghetti sauce type flavor than a pizza sauce type, but was still good. I would try these again if I was in the area.

I would rate these pizzas a 7.2 out of 10.
